About Me

Hello! My name is Ashley King and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Charlotte, NC. Here is some information about me!

Education & Credentials

I have a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in North Carolina. I also have a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Religious Studies from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Before graduate school, I was employed with McLeod Addictive Disease Center working with individuals struggling with substance use disorder and receiving inpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication assisted treatments. During graduate school, I completed 3 semesters of supervised clinical practice at Carolinas Rehabilitation providing therapeutic evaluation, assessment, and care to patients with substance use, CVA/stroke, complex physical and emotional trauma, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and other neurological disorders. Additionally, I completed 1 semester of supervised clinical practice at Atrium Health providing therapeutic support, crisis management services, and comprehensive clinical assessments to antenatal, postnatal, and cardiac trauma patients.

I have completed a five day intensive in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) training and am trained in various reintegrative therapy techniques.

Outside of the Office

I married my middle school sweetheart in 2013 and we have three beautiful children. My husband and I are both northwest Charlotte natives and love all things NC! While I don't get much free time with three little ones, when I do, I love to paint, read novels of all genres, baking and cooking, and taking bubble baths! My family and I love hiking/exploring new places, especially outdoors!
